Kundalini: Opening the Doorway to Universal Awareness.
Before we delve into the intriguing nature of mystical experiences, it's important to examine how the traditional concept of Grace aligns with the various ways this phenomenon presents itself. The significance of Grace in these contexts is consistently highlighted by prophets, mystics, and saints throughout history. This understanding is rooted in a rich historical background, almost as ancient as religious experiences themselves, and is often reflected in the sacred writings of diverse cultures.
Kundalini represents the core essence that underpins all experiences tied to spirituality, the mystical, and the supernatural. Throughout history, encounters with individuals exhibiting remarkable abilities—be it through magic, witchcraft, divination, or mediumship—have often suggested the presence of a partially awakened kundalini. When someone claims prophetic gifts or asserts connection with a divine source, backed by undeniable proof of exceptional talents, high moral character, and deep spiritual insight, this points to a fully activated kundalini that has ascended to Sahasrara, the highest center of the mind. Just as variations in our sexual behavior can be linked to the fundamental instincts of our reproductive system, so too can the myriad experiences related to religion and the supernatural be traced back to the vibrant spiritual energy of kundalini. The diversity of interpretations regarding the divine, along with the concepts of the Soul and the Beyond, resonates with individuals from countless faiths, making it difficult to communicate the revolutionary ideas presented in this work in a manner that resonates across many often conflicting beliefs. Moreover, modern writings on Yoga and kundalini frequently misinterpret these practices, diverging from the ancient understanding of Yoga as conveyed by spiritual masters. Yoga and kundalini are intrinsically linked; true Yoga and the connection to Cosmic Consciousness cannot exist without the awakening of kundalini. At its essence, the human brain has evolved to experience a distinct consciousness that can recognize its own existence, transcending traditional constraints of space and time. Rather than arriving at conclusions through standard logical processes, it can dive into a vast Ocean of Knowledge where all that is knowable is accessible, providing answers to unresolved questions. From this reservoir, new insights trickle into our ordinary consciousness, contingent upon our alignment with the mind. These unique understandings, historically regarded as Revelation, cannot be grasped through conventional empirical means.
The stories shared by mystics and visionaries from both the East and the West highlight a common theme: the ultimate aim of religious practices, including Yoga, is to achieve a transformed state of being that grants abilities beyond everyday reasoning and thought. Throughout history, those who have attained this heightened state have often found it challenging to express their experiences in ways that others can easily grasp. Even the most eloquent individuals have turned to parables, paradoxes, and metaphors to convey their insights. Describing such an experience is inherently difficult. Yet, this should not be interpreted as an excuse to disregard the importance of presenting credible evidence for the reality of these phenomena. To put it simply, just as it is impossible to explain the taste of salt to someone who has never tasted it, so too is it beyond reach to hint at the transcendent state for those who have not encountered it first-hand. The inexpressibility of mystical experiences has long been recognized. The Kena Upanishad (ii.2) asserts, “It is known to him,” who does not know it. Those who think they grasp its essence are often unaware, while true understanding is held by those who make no claims of knowledge. The person who comprehends Brahman expresses his bewilderment about the experience in the lines that follow: “I do not think I know (Brahman) well enough: Not that I do not know: I know and do not know as well.” Individuals driven by an insatiable desire for a vision of God or access to higher states of consciousness are often responding to impulses from the evolutionary center of the brain, urging them to transcend ordinary consciousness. For past mystics and seers, this transition could happen suddenly. Through deep meditation, profound longing, and steadfast discipline, they would experience a swift awakening of the higher centers, resulting in a significant shift in consciousness that left them astonished, witnessing a remarkable transformation within themselves. It is no wonder that the supramental reality that emerged in their awareness was perceived as the Supreme Ruler.
The pressing need of our time is to deepen our understanding and awareness. This growth is crucial to counterbalance the overwhelming impact of our expanding knowledge of the universe on our minds. The sheer scale of the cosmos can make Earth, our solar system, and humanity itself feel insignificant within a grander perspective. Those in influential roles across various sectors—whether in science, philosophy, art, industry, finance, politics, or sports—might not experience this sense of diminishment as sharply. However, it can be deeply troubling for those who are more aware and sensitive within the broader population. The chaos we see in the world stems from both external and internal disruptions. The alarming surge in drug addiction, the frantic lifestyles many adopt in a quest for inner peace, the rising interest in yoga and spirituality as paths to the divine, and the ongoing turmoil of violence and conflict are happening during a time when technology has made unprecedented comforts accessible to all. This perplexing situation is challenging for our current understanding to decipher. As the external world grows more intricate, there's a critical need for our inner awareness to expand as well, so that humanity doesn't become overwhelmed by its own creations. Therefore, fostering mystical insight, which provides a deeper grasp of the inner self, is not just a luxury or leisure activity for a select few. It is vital for the survival of a rational and harmonious society. It’s remarkable that the evolutionary significance of our mystical inclinations has yet to be acknowledged, even by those in academia, in a way that parallels the primitive interpretations of nature's mysterious forces.
It serves as a beautiful reminder to our conscious selves about the remarkable changes unfolding within us, where an emerging state of Being becomes more apparent. When we take a moment to look inward, this state sparkles like "an isle of gems," radiating like "a mountain of burnished gold," vast as the ocean, and far more enchanting to our senses—sight, touch, hearing, taste, and smell—than any work of art, piece of music, or delightful experience we could think of. Each individual, at their core, is being gently guided by destiny toward a realm of unmatched beauty, harmony, and peace found nowhere else in the universe we inhabit. The empowering effects of meditating on divine themes, engaging in prayer, enjoying the splendor of sacred spaces, feeling the reverence in shrines, and drawing inspiration from the lives of prophets and saints, as well as the profound insights of sages and visionaries, all resonate with the evolutionary impulse pushing humanity to a higher level of consciousness. This journey leads us to a magnificent inner universe where our purest ambitions, dreams, and ideals can truly come alive.
